New Haven, Conn. – April 7, 2026 – The Springfield College men's golf team had an outstanding outing at the Alling Golf Club Spring Invitational as the Pride won the team title with its top score from the entire 2025-26 season totaling a 303.
Individually, Springfield's
Ryan Wood (Foxborough, Mass.) and
Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.)recorded scores of 74 finishing just one stroke behind individual medalist Derek Johnson of Western New England University. Wood finished the front nine with a 35 and was tied with Johnson at the turn, but Johnson outlasted him by one on the back nine.
Kumpulanian notched a 38 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine as his back nine was second best among the 37 student-athletes competing. Only Pierson Hester of Albertus Magnus was better on the back nine shooting a 35.
Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.) registered a 75 and was followed by
Justin Acquarulo (Branford, Conn.) with an 80 and
Nolan Kelly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) with an 87. Ardolino went 36 and 39, while Acquarulo posted an even 40 on both halves of his day. Kelly rounded it out with a 45 and 42, respectively.
Springfield will travel to Rhode Island for the Roger Williams Invitational next weekend.
