Springfield, Mass. — September 13-14, 2014 — Led by Greg Allen (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), the Springfield College men's golf team placed 24th at the Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury College this past weekend. Allen finished 59th overall for the Pride with a score of 82 in the first round of play and 81 on day two.

Trailing by four strokes after 18 holes, Rensselaer shaved 14 shots off their day one score to capture tournament title with a total of 605 strokes.  Trinity finished second at 608, followed by University of Rochester at 615, host Middlebury at 621, Salem State College at 626, Skidmore and Manhattanville tied at 634, UMass Dartmouth at 635, and Western New England at 644.

Following Allen, the Pride was led by senior Jordan Maynard (Norwich, Conn.) who placed 111th with an 84-90=174. Behind Maynard was Jonny DiSanto (Westfield, Mass.) with an 87-88=175, tying for 112th.

Up next for Springfield was freshman Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) at 89-93=182, tying with teammate Alec Leung (Milford, Mass.) for 121st.  Leung shot a 94 in the first round and tallied an 88 in the second round.

Next weekend, Springfield College will compete at Williams College at the Taconic Golf Club.
