Newington, Conn. - September 7, 2014 -The Springfield College golf team opened up its season by competing in the Trinity Invitational over the weekend at Indian Hill Country Club.

After Saturday's competition was interrupted with inclement weather, the teams finished up the first round on Sunday morning.  As a team, the Pride totaled 350 strokes in the first round of play to sit in 12th place.  Jordan Maynard (Norwich, Conn.) paced Springfield with an 83 on the par 72 course, finishing tied for 46th in the field.

In his first collegiate tournament, Greg Allen (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) posted an 86, while Jon DiSanto tallied an 89. 

Alec Leung (Milford, Mass.) carded a 92 and Travis Price (Reading, Mass.) rounded out Springfield's scores with a 95.
