Springfield opened the games scoring just 13:58 into the contest, when freshman Brad Deckel (Lansdale, Pa.) took a pass from senior Connor Archambault (Torrance, Calif.) and found the back of the net for the first time in his career to give the Pride an early 1-0 advantage over the Cougars. Just 16:03 later, Clark pulled even behind a strike from Alberto Polo-Herrera (Arlington, Va.), that was assisted by Tim Rovnak (Portland, Maine).

In the second half, Springfield was able to take a one-goal lead when sophomore Curtis Bolduc (South Windsor, Conn.) blasted a shot into the right side of the net to give the Pride a 2-1 lead with 27:40 left in the contest.

Springfield would tack on an insurance goal with 16:29 remaining in the contest, when junior forward Taylor Gilfoy (Holliston, Mass.) slid a pass to sophomore Danny Murphy (Old Saybrook, Conn.), who tallied his third goal of the season to give the Pride a 3-1 lead heading into the final minutes of the contest.

The stout defensive unit from Springfield was able to hold off a late charge from the Cougars, sealing the win for the Pride. Up next, Springfield will travel to Framingham State on Tuesday, October 6 for a 4 p.m. tilt.
