Springfield, Mass. - February 25, 2015 - Senior midfielder Michelle Dorsey (Wilbraham, Mass.) tallied six points including four goals and two assists for the Springfield College women's lacrosse program en route to a 16-1 victory over Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon on Stagg Field.

With the win, the Pride are now 1-0 on the season, while the Warriors fall to 0-1 overall. Springfield held the advantage in shots on the afternoon, as the hosts posted 29 to Eastern Connecticut's six. The Pride also tallied 24 groundballs to the Warriors' 14 and went 11-for-16 in the clearing game.

Along with six points for Dorsey, junior Olivia Cabral (Sayville, N.Y.) tallied a career-high five assists, while both Heather Raniolo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Bianca Raniolo (Yorktown, N.Y.) posted four-point performances. Bianca Jacques (Berlin, Conn.) netted the only goal for Eastern Connecticut. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Gabriella Anderson (Mahopac, N.Y.) made her first start on the season, and made three saves, while Carley Elkin (Guilford, Conn.) came on in the second half and held Eastern Connecticut scoreless. For the Warriors, Taylor Emmerson (Colchester, Conn.) registered seven saves in the loss. 

Springfield started the scoring just 1:16 into the contest when Colleen Keeley (Agawam, Mass.) found Bianca Raniolo wide open on the crease for an easy finish, before Heather Raniolo dodged to the middle and found the back of the net to extend the Pride's lead to two.

At the 19:33 mark of the opening half, Jacques scored for the Warriors on a free-position opportunity, before Heather Raniolo netted a free-position chance of her own to give Springfield a 3-1 lead.

After Kerstin Lindrooth (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) scored on a free-position shot midway through the first half, Springfield closed out the half with five-straight goals over the next 9:36 including three from Dorsey, one from freshman Shelby Corsano (Bourne, Mass.) and another from Bianca Raniolo with 5:43 left to close out the half.

Springfield started off the second half scoring three-straight goals over just 4:21 including tallies from Dorsey, Lindrooth and sophomore Paige Campbell (Lakeville, Mass.) to give the hosts a 13-1 advantage. 

Lindrooth then completed her hat trick at the 16:50 mark with a goal off a nice feed from Heather Raniolo to give the hosts a 14-1 lead, before Springfield was able to empty its bench and close out the game with a pair of goals from freshman Stephanie Hyslip (Hanson, Mass.) and Campbell.

Springfield will resume play on Saturday, February 28 when it will host Western New England on Stagg Field at 3 p.m.
