Springfield, Mass. – June 9, 2026 – Springfield College women's lacrosse senior
Sarah Newton (Colchester, Conn.) was recently named as an Honorable Mention All-American from USA Lacrosse Magazine. Newton becomes the first All-American for the program since 2021.
Newton individually ranked 26th in the country and led the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in draw controls per game with 6.33 and also led the conference in total draw controls.
She won 114 draw controls which marked a new single season program record surpassing the previous record of 113 which was set in 2018 by Shelby Corsano. Springfield as a team ranked 12th in draw control percentage (.631) and 17th in draw controls per game (15.11). Newton also totaled 20 goals and seven assists for 27 points on the season.
Newton ends her collegiate career with 80 goals and 32 assists for 112 career points to go along with 75 ground balls, 41 caused turnovers and 175 draw controls all in 66 total games played on Alden Street. In total, Newton started in 61 of 66 possible games for the Pride over the previous four seasons.
Springfield finished the season at 11-7 overall and 8-2 in NEWMAC play. The Pride defeated Wheaton in the NEWMAC quarterfinal round to reach the semifinals once again under the direction of head coach Jenn Thomas.
