Women's Tennis Pulls Out 6-3 Victory Against Concordia Wisconsin

Lake Nona, Fla. - March 18, 2019 - The Springfield College women's tennis team produced a 6-3 victory over Concordia Wisconsin at the USTA National Center on Monday in the opening match of their trip to Florida. 

The win boosted the Pride's record to 4-0 on the season.

Springfield opened up the competition with three victories in doubles play, with Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and Juliette Piazza (Portland, Conn.) earning an 8-6 win at the top spot to lead the way.  Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) and Rielly Malz (Glastonbury, Conn.) added an 8-5 victory at No. 2 and Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) and Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) cruised to a 8-1 win at No. 3. 

In singles play, Malz was the first one off the courts after a 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 before Freadman clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 2.  Etter added the Pride's sixth victory of the day when she posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3. 

Springfield will hit the courts again on Tuesday when it plays New Paltz at 10:30 am.
