Babson Downs Women's Tennis, 9-0

Springfield, Mass. - March 30, 2019 - The Springfield College women's tennis team suffered its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) setback of the season as it lost to Babson, 9-0, at Appleton Courts on Saturday.

Babson improved to 5-4, 2-0 in conference play, while the Pride fell to 7-2, 1-1. 

In doubles play, Springfield's best showing came at the No. 2 spot as Rielly Malz (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) battled in an 8-5 loss. In singles play, Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) continued her strong play at the No. 3 position as she flel 5-7, 6-4, 11-9, while Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) dropped a 7-5, 7-5 decision at No. 5.

The Pride will now gear up for another conference showdown with Wheaton next Saturday back on Appleton Courts.  First serve is 10:30 am.
