Men's Tennis Falls To Wheaton, 9-0

Springfield, Mass. - April 6, 2019 - The Springfield College men's tennis team was defeated by Wheaton, 9-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Appleton Courts. 

In doubles play, the team of Jack Anastopoulos (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) were clipped by a score of 8-7(4) in the Pride's best showing in the early going, while the duo of Drew DeLorenzo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) were defeated 8-3. 

Honda nearly pulled off a win at the top spot in singles play before ultimately dropping a 7-6, 1-6, 10-1 decision.  Anastopolous also battled at the No. 4 spot for the Pride, falling 6-1, 7-5, while Moffa was defeated 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3.

Springfield will hit the courts again on Sunday when it hosts Colby-Sawyer for a 12 pm contest.
