Ithaca, N.Y. - November 6, 2021 - The Springfield College wrestling team finished sixth at the Ithaca Invitational as it wrapped up its two-day competition, highlighted by a pair of wrestlers who finished as runner-ups in their weight classes. 

The Pride scored 84.5 points among the 11 teams in the competition, finishing behind Johnson & Wales (154), Stevens (152), Castleton (135), Baldwin Wallace (130), and Ithaca (89.5).

Chris Trelli (Bristol, Conn.) took runner-up in a very deep 141 pound weight class, which featured four wrestlers ranked in the top 10 in the nation.  In the quarters, Trelli cruised to a 13-0 major decision against Joseph Lotruglio from Norwich and then knocked off the nation's fourth-ranked wrestler Hayden Brown of JWU, 5-4.  In the title match, Kyle Slendorn of Stevens prevailed by pinfall in 5:40 as Trelli capped off his impressive weekend in second place.

At 149, Chase Parrott (Stamford, Conn.) started off his Saturday with a sudden victory against Victor Perlleshi of JWU by a score of 6-4, and advanced to the championship by injury default versus Gabriel McDaniel of Johnson & Wales.  In the finals, Parrott was pinned in 4:20 by Brett Kaliner from Stevens as he earned second-place points for his squad. 

Joey Manginelli (Dumont, N.J.), opened up his day at 125 with a 17-6 major decision over Ithaca's Matt Haycook before falling to Jacob Decatur from Baldwin Wallace, 3-1, in overtime as he finished fifth in the weight class.  Twin brother Gianni Manginelli (Dumont, N.J.) also won in the quarterfinals by a 4-1 decision from Luke Hoerle of Stevens, and at 184, top-seeded Dillan Palaszewski (Gallway, N.Y.) earned a 4-3 quarterfinal victory against Michael Conrad from Stevens.
