Springfield, Mass. - April 10, 2021 - The Springfield College women's tennis dropped its first match of the 2021 campaign on Saturday afternoon as it was bested by Babson, 8-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.
The loss drops Springfield's record to 2-1 on the season, while the win lifted the Beavers to 1-0.
In doubles play, the Pride's Hailey Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) and Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) battled their way to an 8-6 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Higgins had another strong showing in singles play in her return to the lineup as she dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision at No. 6, while Juliette Piazza (Portland, Conn.) was downed at No. 3 by the scores of 6-3, 6-4.
Springfield will host Clark on Saturday, April 24 at 1 pm.
