Worcester, Mass. - April 18, 2021 - After two weeks away from competition, the Springfield College men's tennis team was bested by Clark University, 8-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Sunday.
David Kilburn (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Lucas Van Deventer (Ellington, Conn.) battled their way to an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles for the Pride, while Fabian Jensen (Stavanger, Norway) and James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) were defeated by an 8-5 decision in the No. 1 spot
Van Deventer battled tough at the No. 4 spot, winning the opening set 6-3, only to drop the next two, 6-3, 10-8. Kilburn was defeated at No. 5 by a 6-2, 6-3 decision, while both Jensen and Greg Baker (Princeton, N.J.) were downed by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
On Saturday, Springfield will travel to play Babson at 2:30 pm.
