Springfield, Mass. - May 2, 2021 - The Springfield College women's tennis team closed out the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season in a showdown with Babson College and dropped an 8-1 setback. The match started on Appleton Courts before moving indoors to the Springfield College Field House due to inclement weather.
The loss drops Springfield's record to 3-2 on the season, while the win allowed the Beavers to move 3-0.
In doubles play, the Pride's Hailey Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) and Gabriella Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) played well at the No. 2 spot in an 8-5 setback. Springfield's lone win of the afternoon came from Higgins as she prevailed in an 8-5 victory at the No. 6 spot. Heidi Schuman (Nassau, N.Y.) had a strong showing at No. 5 in a 8-6 loss.
