No. 13 Millikin 29, Springfield 17

Springfield opened up the competition against 13th-ranked Millikin University and was topped, 29-17, as it dropped the last five bouts of the meet.  The Pride got off to a great start as Joey Manginelli (Dumont, N.J.), who is the fourth-ranked wrestler in the country at 125 pounds, cruised to a 16-5 major decision, only to have the Big Blue answer back with a decision at 133.  From there, the Pride strung together three-straight vicotires, starting with a 13-3 major decision by Chris Trelli (Bristol, Conn.) at 141.  Chase Parrott (Stamford, Conn.), the nation's 13th-ranked wrestler at 149, battled his way to an 8-2 decision before Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) delivered his 12th victory by pinfall this year in 3:13 at 165.

However, Millikin would respond with wins at the final five weight classes, including two pins and a technical fall, as it rallied for the 29-17 victory.

Adrian 25, Springfield 24

In Springfield's second meet of the day, the Pride was edged on criteria after the 10th bout ended with the teams knotted at 24.  Springfield rattled off victories at the first five weight classes, with Joey Manginelli setting the early tone with a 21-5 technical fall.  Twin brother Gianni Manginelli (Dumont, N.J.) followed with an impressive showing at 133, earning a win by pinfall in 1:18 and Trelli posted a 14-4 major decision at 141 as the Pride's lead grew to 15-0.

Parrott earned his second decision of the day with an 11-4 win at 149 and Deguire produced yet another pin, this time in only 37 seconds, to push Springfield's lead to 24-0.  Adrian then rattled off two pins and a decision before benefitting from a forfeit at 184 to pull the Bulldogs within 24-21.  At 285, Adrian posted a decision, and advanced in the bracket on criteria because of the Pride's forfeit.

Springfield 35, Olivet 9

Springfield wrapped up the competition with a dominant showing over Olivet as the Pride won the first seven bouts to cruise to the victory.  Joey Manginelli earned his third win of the day with a 17-0 technical fall at 125 before Gianni Manginelli delivered another first-period pin in 1:12. Both Trelli and Parrott added decisions at 141 and 149 to improve to 3-0 on the day and Deguire registered a 22-4 technical fall at 157 to make it 22-0.

Jeremy Scutellaro (Massapequa, N.Y.) broke into the lineup at 165 and responded with a pin in 6:36 and Jake Harry (Lancaster, N.Y.) bumped up to 174 and recorded a 10-0 major decision.  Following a forfeit at 184, Sam Ware (Oakham, Mass.) closed out the scoring for Springfield with a 10-7 decision at 197.
