Springfield, Mass. - November 19, 2022 - The Springfield College wrestling team finished as the runner-up at the 2022 Doug Parker Invitational, which was held in the Springfield College Field House on Saturday.

Competing among the 14-team field, the Pride scored 110.5 team points to finish in second behind Coast Guard, which won the team title with 153 points.  Springfield's team score was fueled by five third-place finishes on the day. 

Joey Manginelli (Dumont, N.J.), who entered the tournament ranked third in the nation at 125 pounds, took third in his weight class as he went 2-1 on the day, while Chase Parrott (Stamford, Conn.) also took third at 149 pounds as he picked up four victories on Saturday, including a 6-4 triumph against Chris Perry from Trinity in the third-place match. 

Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) also took third at 157 pounds as he produced three victories by pinfall and a major decision, and Joey Parsons (Waldwick, N.J.) went 3-1 as well at 141 pounds en route to a third-place finish for the Pride. At 174 pounds, Brayden Grim (Gales Ferry, Conn.) delivered two pins in under two minutes apiece to start off his day before he was knocked off in the semifinals and benefitted from a medical forfeit to take third.  

Additionally, Springfield's Isiac Paulino (Athol, Mass.) took fourth at 125, Myles Leonard (Waldwick, N.J.) was fifth at 165 pounds, as was Casey Allen (Park Ridge, N.J.) at 197 and Ryan Kozdra (Mahwah, N.J.) at 141.    

Springfield will next wrestle in the Petrofes Invitational at Messiah on December 2-3.
