Springfield, Mass. - November 5, 2022 -The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team hosted MIT on Saturday and was defeated by a 244-52 margin. 

In the 200-yard medley relay to start the meet, Springfield's best time came in a 1:58.08 following the efforts of Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.), Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), Kay Shen (Hong Kong), and Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.) Shen won the 50 freestyle for the Pride, finishing the competition with a time of 24.60, while Elizabeth Athanas (Manchester, Mass.) recorded a 11:34.15 to finish in the top three for the 1,000 freestyle competition. 

Mikaili Charlemagne (Casteries, St. Lucia) swam a 2:03.23 in the 200 free, took third in the 100 free with a 54.36, and posted a 1:02.54 in the 100 fly.  Maddie Symecko (Southington, Conn.) would register a 1:04.65 in the 100 back and a 2:21.23 in the 200 back. Lamb turned in a 1:09.25 in the 100 breast and a 2:35.29 in the 200 breast, while and Elizabeth Fraser (Westfield, Mass.) recorded a 2:20.86 in the 200 fly and a 4:46.94 in the 400 IM.  

In the 500 free, Lefteri Roba (Worcester, Mass.) completed the race in 5:33.11, while on the three-meter board, Megan Crawford (Agawam, Mass.) finished in the highest position for the Pride with a mark of 219.53 and posted a 199.50 score on the one-meter. 

Springfield closed out the meet with the third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Shen, Chamberlin, Roba, and Charlemagne posted a time of 3:44.19.  

Springfield will hit the road next weekend when it heads to Wheaton for a tri-meet with Keene State.
