Worcester, Mass. – December 6, 2025 – Through two days in the pool, Springfield College has produced a score of 2249.5 points to sit in sixth place at the 2025 Gompei Invitational.
This year's meet features a mix of Division I, I and III programs as the pack of nine schools is being led by the host Engineers. Bentley, Saint Peter's, Sacred Heart and Brandeis round out the top five as the scoring for the meet is a combined mark of men's and women's results across the three day meet.
Friday Highlights:
The best individual finish on Friday came from
Lena Thompson (Bow, N.H.), who came in eighth place in the 50-free in 25.31. Thompson also produced a top-10 finish in the 100-fly clocking a time of 59.43 good enough for tenth.
Springfield had seven other top-30 individual finishes in the pool on Friday night as
Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) took 22nd in the 200-breast in 2:37.09 and was followed by
Avery Van Tassel (Bay Shore, N.Y.) in 25th in 2:38.68 and
Erica Kerner (Cherry Hill, N.J.) in 30th in 2:46.32.
Kylie Nordenstrom (Blaine, Minn.)paced the Pride in the 500-free in 5:25.81 and was followed by
Ally Burnett (Rochester, N.Y.) in 5:29.62 and
Paige Levine (Holtsville, N.Y.) in 5:40.54.
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) rounded out the individual highlights on Friday with her 22nd place finish in the 200-IM in 2:17.62.
Thompson,
Lizzy McMahon (Rensselaer, N.Y.), Thompson and Norbut combined to place ninth in the 800-free relay in 8:20.11, while Thompson, McMahon, Burnett and Nordenstrom combined to place 13th in the 200-medley relay in 1:53.71.
Saturday Highlights:
The best individual finish on Saturday came from Thompson, who touched the wall fourth in the 50-fly in 26.13. She also finished 19th in the 200-free in 2:03.10. McMahon paced Springfield in the 50-back with a fourth place finish in 27.37 and the 100-back with an eighth place finish in 59.96.
Van Tassel was Springfield's fastest swimmer in the 400-IM as she touched the wall in 18th in 4:59.41 and was just behind Norbut in the 100-breast in 1:14.41. Norbut took 23rd in the event in 1:11.98.
The 200-free relay team of Thompson, McMahon,
Kianna Riera (Cranford, N.J.) and Norbut took tenth in 1:42.34, while the 400-medley relay team of McMahon, Van Tassel, Thompson and Norbut finished in 14th in 4:15.25.
Springfield will wrap up the Gompei Invitational tomorrow morning at 9:00 am from Worcester.
