Orlando, Fla. - March 14, 2022 - In their first match of their Spring Break trip, the Springfield College men's tennis team was upended by Bethel, 8-1, at the USTA National Training Center on Monday.
Springfield's No. 3 doubles team of James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) and Sichen Ni (Hefei, Anhui, China) put up a strong showing in an 8-5 setback.
In singles play, Mike Kendrick (Watervliet, N.Y.) won the first set 7-5 at the No. 4 spot before being edged 6-3, 10-6. Lucas Van Deventer (Ellington, Conn.) earned the Pride's lone point of the day by virtue of his 7-6, 7-5 victory at No. 6.
Springfield will hit the courts again on Tuesday in a battle with Hameline.
