Orlando, Fla. - March 14, 2022 - Having not competed on Spring Break in Florida since 2019, the Springfield College women's tennis team made the most in their return to the Sunshine State with a 5-4 win over Bethel at the USTA National Training Center on Monday.
The Pride earned a pair of points in doubles play as Marian Bulkley (Durham, N.H.) and Rielly Malz (Glastonbury, Conn.) posted an 8-3 win at the No. 3 spot and Veronica Fulgieri (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Taylor Suozzo (Bedford, N.H.) prevailed by an 8-4 decision at No. 2.
In singles play, Springfield was able to earn three victories to clinch the 5-4 triumph. Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 3, while Malz added a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Suozzo then came up with a critical win at No. 5, prevailing by a 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 to push the Pride's record to 3-0 this season.
Springfield will take on Hamline on Tuesday at 11:30 am.
