Orlando, Fla. - March 17, 2022 - The Springfield College women's tennis team remained unbeaten with a 6-2 win over St. Scholastica to close out their Spring Break trip in Florida on Thursday.
The Pride is now 6-0 on the season, marking the best start in program history since Springfield opened up the 1995 year with a 7-0 mark. That 1995 season was the first year that Springfield competed at the NCAA Division III level.
After St. Scholastica was first off the court at No. 2 doubles, Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) and Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) posted an 8-0 victory at No. 3 and Taylor Suozzo's (Bedford, N.H.) and Gabriella Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) recorded an 8-3 win at the top doubles spot.
Jorja Mederick (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) delivered a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles to keep things rolling for the Pride before Rosselli registered a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. Manataweewat clinched the team victory for the Pride after her 6-2, 6-2 triumph and Suozzo added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3.
On Wednesday, Springfield will host Connecticut College.
