West Point, N.Y. - March 19, 2022 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion as they defeated Army, 381.950-375.750, on Saturday afternoon. It marked Springfield's first win over Army in a dual meet since March 6, 2010 as the Pride delivered its highest team score of the season.
Andrae Butler (Taunton, Mass.) and Charles Kramer (Minnetrista, Minn.) tied for second on the floor exercise as each were awarded 13.350's before the Pride moved to the pommel horse where it registered the top three scores. Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany) won the event with a 13.200, followed by Colton O'Brien's (Crystal Lake, Ill.) second-place score of 12.950, while Juan Gomez (Tallahassee, Fla.) took third with a 12.900 in an event where the Pride outscored the Black Knights, 62.800-55.250.
The Pride had four of the top six scores on the rings, led by David Handron's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) second-place mark of 12.700. Noah Dhaliwal (South Orange, N.J.) was credited with a 12.600 to finish in fourth, while Gomez hit for a 12.300 to place in fifth.
On the vault, Springfield racked up 69.450 points as it again had the top three finishers. Dominic Ramalho (Hollis, N.H.) won the event with a 14.300, Butler registered a 14.200 for runner-up honors and Jakarie Williams (Stockbridge, Ga.) tallied a 14.000 for third. Kriedemann took second on the parallel bars with his 13.100 and Christian Wilkey Jr. (Lowell, Mass.) earned a 12.900 en route to third place.
Closing out the afternoon on the horizontal bar, Kriedemann tallied a 12.600 to finish in second place and Jaden Laubstein (Oakland, Calif.) turned in a 12.500 to pace the Pride on the event.
Next weekend, Springfield will head to Navy to compete in the USAG Championships.
