Box Score

Springfield, Mass. - March 11, 2022 - The Springfield College men's volleyball team put together its best offensive performance in over five years as it handled Regis is straight sets on Wednesday night in Blake Arena.  Springfield won by the scores of 25-7, 25-17, 25-16.

Now 19-1 on the year, Springfield entered the match ranked No. 1 in the country in the most recent AVCA Division III National Coaches Poll.  Springfield hit .618 in the win, marking the best showing by a Pride offense since the team hit .692 on March 4, 2017 against Hunter.  Tonight's team hitting percentage was the fifth highest in all of college men's volleyball this season.

Noah Weislo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) turned in 10 kills on 14 errorless attempts to lead the way as Matt Lilley (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and Ethan Weislo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) combined four 32 assists in leading the Springfield offense.  Brennen Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) added seven kills, Jarrett Anderson (San Jose, Calif.) registered seven of Springfield's 15 service aces, and Johjan Mussa Robles (Caguas, Puerto Rico) led all players with eight digs.  Regis was limited to a .065 hitting percentage on the night with 14 kills compared to the Pride's 39.

Leading 12-7 in the first set, a kill from Nate Reynolds (Baltimore, Md.) allowed the Pride to side out as Reynolds took over from the end line, pouring on the next 12 points that featured seven aces, including five in a row, en route to the 25-7 win.

In the second, Springfield totaled 14 kills at a .650 clip, led by four kills from Brandow.  Holding a 17-14 lead, Springfield closed out the frame on an 8-3 push, as Brandow cranked his third ace of the set to seal the win.

Springfield went to an entirely new lineup in the third as six different first-years saw the court and powered the Pride to 14 kills on a .684 hitting percentage, with Noah Weislo putting down six kills to pace the squad. Leading 12-8, Springfield used a 5-2 push to force Regis into a timeout after a big swing from Chris Rouleau (Bay Shore, N.Y.).  From there, Springfield would cruise to a 25-16 win, with Giancarlo Carrion (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) blasting a ball from the right side for the match-sealing kill.

Springfield heads to New Hampshire to take on Rivier on Thursday for a 6 pm match.
