Springfield, Mass. - March 26, 2022 - The Springfield College women's tennis team clashed with Division II-opponent Bentley University on Appleton Courts in a non-conference match that was called early due to rain.
When the match was called, the teams were tied at 3-3.
Springfield picked up two wins in doubles play as Veronica Fulgieri (Bedford, N.H.) and Rielly Malz (Glastonbury, Conn.) competed as the No. 2 squad and Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) and Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) teammed up in the third spot as each were victorious, 8-3.
In singles play, Gabriella Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) was impressive at No. 1 as she earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory for the Pride. Before the match was called, Manataweewat held a 7-5, 5-5 lead at No. 3, while Taylor Suozzo (Bedford, N.H.) was up 6-1, 2-2 at No. 5.
Springfield hits the courts again on Sunday when it travels to play Endicott.
