Hartford, Conn. - March 30, 2022 - The Springfield College men's tennis team was downed by a 9-0 decision to host Trinity College on Wednesday afternoon.
In doubles play, a pair of Springfield squads lost by 8-5 margins, with Zachary Taub (New Windsor, N.Y.) and Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) falling at No. 1 and Greg Baker (Gladstone, N.J.) and David Kilburn (West Roxbury, Mass.) dropping a decision at No. 3.
Sichen Ni (Hefei, Anhui, China) won the first set at No. 3 singles by a 6-4 margin before being clipped 6-4, 10-8. Also having a strong showing in singles was Lucas Van Deventer (Ellington, Conn.), as he was edged 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6.
Springfield will next compete on April 8 at Emerson.
