Worcester, Mass. - April 12, 2022 - The Springfield College women's tennis team earned another New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win with an 8-1 victory at Clark University on Tuesday afternoon.
The win boosted Springfield's record to 9-4-1 on the year.
First off the court in doubles play was Taylor Suozzo (Bedford, N.H.) and Gabriella Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) at the top spot with their 8-0 win before Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) and Amy Brennan (Rochester, N.Y.) cruised to an 8-2 triumph at No. 3. Springfield's No. 2 doubles team of Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) and Veronica Fulgieri (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) added an 8-4 win heading into singles.
Rosselli picked up the first point in singles with her 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 before Manataweewat clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3. Anastasia MacMaster (Westport, Mass.) registered a point for her team at No. 6 by a 6-2, 6-4 margin and Heaney-Secord then delivered a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. Springfield's eighth and final point came from Suozzo with her 7-6, 6-0 triumph at No. 4.
Springfield returns home for a showdown with Smith at 12 pm on Saturday.
