Babson Park, Mass. - April 21, 2022 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was defeated by Babson, 9-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tilt on Thursday.
The Pride had its three-match winning streak snapped as it slipped to 10-5-1 on the year.
In doubles play, the Beavers earned all three points, with the Pride's top team of Taylor Suozzo's (Bedford, N.H.) and Gabriella Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) and the No. 2 squad of Veronica Fulgieri (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Rielly Malz (South Glastonbury, Conn.) dropping 8-3 decisions, while the No. 3 unit Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) and Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) were edged by an 8-4 margin.
Manataweewat battled tough in the No. 3 spot before falling 6-4, 6-1, while Jorja Mederick (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) was bested 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.
Springfield will travel to Wheaton on Saturday for another NEWMAC showdown.
