Springfield, Mass. - April 5, 2022 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was upended by Wellesley, 8-1, to begin New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Appleton Courts.
The Pride is now 7-3-1 on the year.
In doubles play, the Blue was able to earn all three points, with Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) and Rielly Malz (South Glastonbury, Conn.) slipping by an 8-3 decision at the No. 2 spot.
Malz put together a great effort at the No. 3 position in singles action as she rallied for the Pride's lone point with a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory. Taylor Suozzo's (Bedford, N.H.) also battled tough at No. 4 in a 6-2, 6-4 setback.
Springfield will host Emerson on Friday for another NEWMAC clash.
