Springfield, Mass. - September 27, 2022 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was toppled by visiting Endicott, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon on Appleton Courts.
Springfield's lone point of the afternoon game at the top doubles spot as Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) and Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) powered their way to an 8-2 victory. At the No. 2 spot, the squad of Veronica Fulgieri (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Taylor Suozzo (Bedford, N.H.) battled tough in an 8-6 setback.
Manataweewat was clipped in singles by a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 margin at No. 2, while Suozzo was upended at the No. 4 spot, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, and Emma Aberle (West Warren, Mass.) was outlasted at No. 6, 5-7, 6-4, 10-3.
Springfield will now prepare to compete in the NEWITT's, which get underway on October 7.
