Springfield, Mass. - September 29, 2022 - The Springfield College men's tennis team was downed by Division I-foe Stonehill, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon at Appleton Courts.
It was the first loss of the season for Springfield, as it dipped to 2-1 on the year.
In doubles action, Mike Kendrick (Watervliet, N.Y.) and Phakin Thongbooncharoen (Bangkok, Thailand) were clipped in the closest showing for the Pride at the No. 3 spot by an 8-7 decision.
Marc Villanueva Abad (Morelia, México) and Zach Taub (New Windsor, N.Y.) both fell in three sets, as Taub was rallied past at No. 5 singles by the scores of 6-7, 7-5, 8-10, and Villaneuva Abad was downed 7-5, 2-6, 10-6 at the No. 2 spot.
Several members of the Pride will travel to Maine to compete in the ITA Regional Championships this weekend.
