Stevens 3, Springfield 1 (25-23, 25-12, 14-25, 25-23)

In a showdown of two of the top ranked programs in the nation, No. 2 Springfield was edged by No. 3 Stevens in its first match of the day.  Jarrett Anderson (Largo, Fla.) led all players with 25 kills, nine digs, seven blocks, and four aces, while Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) totaled 41 helpers.  Noah Weislo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) had 10 kills, Braden Gonzales (Murrieta, Calif.) had a match-high 15 digs, and Joel DeCamp (Simi Valley, Calif.) produced six blocks.  In a match that was statistically even, Springfield had 21 service errors, 10 more than the Ducks.

Springfield jumped out to a 16-13 lead in the first set as the hosts called for a timeout and would hold a 21-19 advantage following a kill from Chris Rouleau (Bay Shore, N.Y.).  However, Stevens would answer with a 4-1 push to force the Pride into its final timeout of the frame.  The teams would trade attack errors before Stevens completed the comeback with its 13th kill of the set for a 25-23 win.

After falling behind 6-2 to start the second, Springfield pulled within 10-8 on an Anderson ace.  However, Stevens would manufacture an 8-1 spurt to open up an 18-9 edge and cruise to a 25-12 victory.

The Pride would respond in the third, as it hit .440 as a team, fueled by six kills from Anderson.  With a 10-9 lead, Springfield used three kill from Anderson and an ace by Giancarlo Carrion (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) to surge ahead 14-9. The Pride didn't let the hosts get any closer than four points as it held them to a .062 hitting percentage to take the 25-14 win.

Springfield controlled much of the fourth, with Evan Costley (Simi Valley, Calif.) blistering an ace at 17-14 to force Stevens into a timeout. Out of the break, the Ducks went on a 6-2 run to gain their first lead of the set at 20-19,  only have Anderson later bury his 11th kill of the set to knot things up at 22-all.  The Ducks would call for another timout and pull away with a 3-1 scoring run behind a trio of kills from Percy Bickford to complete the 25-23 win.

Springfield 3, Ramapo 0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-22)

The Pride dictated the match from the end line as it totaled 13 aces in the match, with five coming from both Anderson and Ryan Roller (West Hartford, Conn.), while both Anderson and Costley earned match-high honors in kills with 10.

After giving up the first two points of the first set, Springfield scored the next six, as Rouleau converted in the middle for a 6-2 lead.  Roller would rip three aces in the set as his scoring run late in the frame helped the Pride pull away with a 25-10 victory in which Ramapo hit -.048.

Springfield broke open a 9-7 game in the second with a 10-2 burst which was highlighted by three kills from Costley. Anderson would total three aces of his own in the set as Springfield pulled away with a 25-17 triumph.

The third set featured 13 ties and six lead changes as Ramapo opened up a 18-16 lead late in the third to force Springfield into a timeout.  Out of the break, Anderson sided out with a kill to kickstart a 4-1 surge that was capped off by another Roller ace.  Ramapo would rgain a 21-20 lead, but it was short lived as Anderson converted for kills on the next two points and Costley and Rouleau teammed up for a block to give the Pride the lead for good.  Weislo sealed the win with Springfield's 16th kill of the third as it picked up the three-set sweep.
