Amherst, Mass. - January 29, 2022 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team fell to local-foe Amherst College, 162-111, on Sunday afternoon.
In the 200 medley relay to start the meet, Springfield's best time came in a 1:51.26 following the efforts of Emma Baumhauer (Fairport, N.Y.), Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), Mikaili Charlemagne (Casteries, St. Lucia), and Elizabeth Fraser (Westfield, Mass.).
Charlemagne also posted a 24.26 time to win the 50 freestyle and Lefteri Roba (Worcester, Mass.) had an impressive day in the pool for the Pride, finishing first with a time of 1:08.66 in the 100 breast and taking second in the 200 breast in 2:30.47.
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) completed the 400 IM in 4:50.03 and Baumhauer swam the 500 free in 5:36.95. In the 200 free, Elizabeth Athanas (Manchester, Mass.) turned in a 2:03.34 and Fraser raced the 100 IM in 1:02.21.
In the 100 back, Maddie Symecko (Southington, Conn.) touched in 1:02.79 and wrapped up the 200 back in 2:17.73, while Kay Shen (Hong Kong) recorded a 53.92 in the 100 free. In the 100 fly, Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) finished in 1:03.05. On the three-meter board, Megan Crawford (Agawam, Mass.) finished in the highest position for the Pride with a mark of 221.70, and also scored a 183.29 on the one-meter.
Springfield closed out the meet with the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Charlemagne, Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.), Kelaher, and Shen combined for a time of 1:38.73.
The Pride will face off against Babson on February 4 at 12:00 pm to wrap up the regular season.
