Williamstown, Mass. – November 18, 2023 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team fell to No. 4 nationally-ranked Williams College in the Chandler Athletic Center by a score of 189-100 this afternoon.
Kay Shen (Hong Kong) once again had a great meet for the Pride as she individually won the 50-free in a time of 24.77 and placed second in the 100-free in 54.42. Shen alongside Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.) and Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) were awarded first place points in the 200-free relay when they clocked a time of 1:40.37 in the meet's final event.
Lamb, Kelaher, Shen and Carolyn Blenk (New Rochelle, N.Y.) began the meet with a fourth place finish in the 200-medley relay in 1:51.95. Kelaher was awarded first place points in the 100-fly in 1:02.63 and Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) earned first place points in the 200-IM in 2:22.79. Savoie also clocked a fifth place finish in the 1000-free in 11:21.28.
Blenk went on to finish fourth in the 200-breast in 2:38.55 and fifth in the 100-back in 1:02.93, while Elizabeth Athanas (Manchester, Mass.) took third in the 500-free in 5:34.88 and fifth in the 100-breast in 1:11.00.
In the diving well, Megan Crawford (Agawam, Mass.) finished third in both disciplines with a 1-meter score of 214.34 and a 3-meter score of 205.50.
Springfield will have two weeks off before opening competition at the 2023 Gompei Invitational held by WPI. The three day meet begins on Friday, December 1.
