The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.50 or higher, compete in 90-percent of the team's games played OR start in at least 66-percent of the team's games over the course of the season.
This year's Springfield College women's soccer recipients included sophomore midfielder
Kaitlyn Suller (Oviedo, Fla.), senior forward
Jen Walker (Webster, Mass.) and senior defender
Gabby Scott (Sea Cliff, N.Y.).
Suller sports a 3.90 grade point average as an exercise science major and started in all 19 games for the Pride this fall. The sophomore matched her goal total from a season ago as she produced four goals to go along with a pair of assists for ten points. Suller scored as Springfield's lone goal in both games at MIT and also tallied goals in a 6-1 win at Salve Regina on September 17 and a 3-1 win at Mount Holyoke on October 11. Her two assists came against Farmingdale State and Coast Guard.
Walker, an athletic training major with a grade point average of 3.77, ranked second on the team in goals, assists and points this fall with a total of five goals, three assists and 13 points. Walker's five goals and 13 points marker a new career-high for the senior. She tallied both goals in a 2-0 win over Clark and also added tallies against Western Connecticut, Salve Regina and Smith in the NEWMAC Tournament.
Scott, an athletic training major with a grade point average of 3.86, was a key part of Springfield's defensive unit this fall. The senior started in all 19 games this fall and guided the Pride to six shutouts, four of which came in conference play.
Springfield finished the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 8-5-6 and a mark of 6-2-3 in conference play. The Pride secured the fourth seed in the NEWMAC Tournament and defeated Smith College in penalty kicks on Brock-Affleck Field in the quarterfinal round under the direction of head coach Kristin Cannon.
