Babson Park, Mass. - February 4, 2023 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team cruised past Babson College, 170-114, on Saturday afternoon.
In the 200 medley relay to start the meet, Springfield won the event with a time of 1:50.85 following the efforts of Mikaili Charlemagne (Casteries, St. Lucia), Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.), and Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.).
Lamb was also able to claim first-place honors in the 50 and 100-yard breaststroke, touching in at 30.36 for the 50 and coming in at 1:06.85 in the 100. Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) had a strongday in the pool as well, posting a time of 2.02.44 to win the 200 freestyle and a 5:22.11 mark to capture first in the 500 freestyle.
Charlemagne also posted a 1:01.48 time to win the 100 butterfly and won the 50 butterfly as well, clocking in at 26.78. Lefteri Roba (Worcester, Mass.) also had a first-place finish with a time of 11:07.00 in the 1000 freestyle. Kay Shen (Hong Kong) put together some impressive performances for the Pride on the day, winning the 50 freestyle at 25.02 and the 100 freestyle with a 53.56 time.
In the 100 back, Emma Baumhauer (Fairport, N.Y.) touched in 1:02.02 as the Pride's top finisher for the event, while Carolyn Blenk (New Rochelle, N.Y.) recorded a 28.70 in the 50 backstroke. In the 200 IM, Elizabeth Fraser (Westfield, Mass.) finished with a mark of 2:16.83. On the three-meter board, Megan Crawford (Agawam, Mass.) finished in the highest position for the Pride with a mark of 193.72, and also scored a 224.51 on the one-meter.
Springfield closed out the meet with the 200 freestyle relay team of Shen, Kelaher, Fraser, and Chamberlin combined for a time of 1:41.14.
Springfield will now gear up for the NEWMAC Championships, which gets started on February 16.
