Orlando, Fla. - March 14, 2023 - The Springfield College women's tennis team picked up another victory as it handled St. Scholastica, 6-3, on Tuesday.
Springfield is now 4-2 on the year and has won both of its outings thus far on its Spring Break trip.
The Pride showed plenty of energy from the opening point en route to snagging all three points in doubles play. Kate Rosselli (Trumbull, Conn.) and Taylor Suozzo (Bedford, N.H.) were first off the courts following their 8-2 triumph at No. 2 before Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) and Jorja Mederick (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) prevailed by an 8-5 decision at No. 3. Springfield's top doubles team of Ramida Manataweewat (Thailand, Bangkok) and Gabby Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass.) battled their way to an 8-7 (5) victory at the No. 1 spot.
Suozzo would claim a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 before Manataweewat clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at the No. 2 spot. Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) would register the final point of the afternoon for the Pride afer she was victorious by a 6-0, 6-2 margin at No. 5.
