Men's Soccer Rolls Past Framingham State, 4-0

Box Score

Springfield, Mass. - September 26, 2023 - The Springfield College men's soccer team produced two goals in each half to account for a 4-0 victory over Framingham State University in a non-conference matchup on Brock-Affleck Field on Tuesday night.

Springfield, which registered a season-high four goals on the night, improved to 3-3-2 overall, while Framingham State dropped to 4-4-0 in 2023.

The Pride wasted little time scoring first as Tristan Moran (Weehawken, N.J.) tapped the ball into the net off a pair of one touch flicks from Maitoe Suppasuesanguan (Bangpongpang, Yannawa, Bangkok) and Parker Thornton (Malden, Mass.). Before the half was out, Charlie Heth (Singapore) doubled Springfield's edge after finishing a pass from Thornton.

Heth's goal marked the first of his collegiate career, while Moran earned his second goal of the season after putting one in the net back on September 6 against Vassar.

The score remained the same until the 73rd minute when Sappasuesanguan notched his first goal of the season and fourth of his career on a free kick from the top of the box. Thornton capped the scoring less than three minutes later after Framingham State's defender failed to clear the ball out of the box.

As a team, Springfield held an 11-1 advantage in shots and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks. Despite not having to make a save tonight, Pride keeper Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) earned his second straight shutout and his fifth clean sheet of the year in eight contests.

Springfield will return to New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday when the Pride host the Coast Guard Academy at 2:00 pm.
