Vassar Tops Men's Soccer, 5-1

Box Score

Springfield, Mass. – September 6, 2023 – The Springfield College men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 non-conference decision at home to Vassar College tonight on Brock-Affleck Field. The Pride fell to 0-1-1 on the season, while Vassar moved to 2-1-0 in 2023.

The visiting Brewers held a 15-7 advantage in shots and a 9-3 margin in corner kicks in tonight's out of league tilt. In the first half, Vassar outshot Springfield, 7-1, and Owen Fauth scored his first of two goals on the night in the 40th minute as the visitors held that edge going into the break.

Duncan Keker doubled Vassar's lead just 1:46 into the second stanza off a feed from Danny Berry before Springfield junior Tristan Moran (Weehawken, N.J.) finished a ball from first-yearn Aidan Hallinan (New Windsor, N.Y.) ten minutes later making the score 2-1 with 34 minutes to play.

The goal marked the first of Moran's collegiate career, while Hallinan tallied his first collegiate point and assist for the Pride.

It was all Vassar the rest of the way as the Brewers scored three times in less than ten minutes ending the match by a 5-1 final. Jared Fiske scored Vassar's third goal in the 62nd minute before Fauth and Keker both tallied their second markers of the night about five minutes apart.

Springfield sophomore keeper Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) made four saves in the setback for the Pride as his record between the pipes pushed to 0-1-1.

Springfield will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 9 with a non-conference road match at Gordon College slated for 4:00 pm.
