AnnapoIis, Md. – January 20, 2024 – The Springfield College men's gymnastics team took fourth at the Navy Open on Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State took first with a 397.300, followed by Navy (391.250) and Penn State (385.200), while Springfield's mark of 372.550 was good enough for fourth. William and Mary (366.100) rounded out the field.
Sam Kaplan (Fairhaven, Mass.) competed in the all-around and placed second with a 75.050.
Will Wilson (Montgomery, Ala.) led the way on the vault as he tied for fifth with a 14.500, followed by
Dominic Ramalho's (Hollis, N.H.) eighth-place
mark of 14.4 an
d Evan Reichert's (Oswego, Ill.) score of 14.100 as Springfield turned in a 70.000 on the event.
Ramalho posted the Pride's top mark on the parallel bars with a 13.250, while Kaplan tacked on a 13.100 and
Noah Dwaliwal (South Orange, N.J.) added a 13.050. Kaplan paced Springfield on the horizontal bar with a seven-place mark of 12.750 and
Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany) was credited with a 12.050. Dwaliwal was Springfield's third-highest scorer with a 11.850.
Ramalho was impressive on the floor and tied for third with a 13.300, Reichert tacked on a 13.000 and Kriedemann scored a 12.400.
Peyton Cramer (Grapevine, Texas) continued to impress as on the collegiate stage as the first-year registered a 13.900 on the pommel horse for runner-up honors,
while
Juan Gomez (Tallahassee, Fla.) earned a 12.750, and Kaplan added an 11.750.
Finishing up the day on the rings,
Gustavin Suess (Portland, Ore.) scored a team-best 12.650 for a top-ten finish, while Kaplan totaled a 12.000 and
Dylan Colangelo (Youngstown, Ohio) registered an 11.00.
Next Saturday, Springfield travels to take on Army at 1 pm.
