Springfield, Mass. – January 20, 2024 – Springfield College juniors
Kay Shen (Hong Kong) and
Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.) powered the women's swimming and diving program to a double dual sweep over Wesleyan University and Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon inside Art Linkletter Natatorium.
Springfield topped Wesleyan by a score of 158-142 and Roger Williams, 217-79. The double dual sweep improved the Pride's record to 5-4 on the season.
Shen individually placed first in the 200-free in 1:58.97, the 50-free in 24.31 and the 100-free in 53.06, while Lamb individually placed first in the 100-breast in 1:05.56, the 200-breast in 2:27.63 and the 200-IM in 2:14.15. Lamb teamed up with senior
Carolyn Blenk (New Rochelle, N.Y.), junior
Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) and junior
Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.) for first in the 200-medley relay, while Shen teamed up with Kelaher, senior
Emma Baumhauer (Fairport, N.Y.) and Chamberlin for first in the 200-free relay in 1:39.49.
Blenk went on to place second in the 100-back in 1:02.18 and third in the 200-IM in 2:17.00, Chamberlin placed third in the 200-free in 2:02.94 and third in the 100-free in 56.43 and senior
Elizabeth Athanas (Manchester, Mass.) took a pair of second place finishes in the 100-breast in 1:11.11 and the 200-breast in 2:35.30.
In the diving well, senior
Megan Crawford (Agawam, Mass.) swept both boards with a score of 435.46 on the 1-meter board and a mark of 269.92 on the 3-meter board. Sophomore
Elizabeth Santos (Chicopee, Mass.) finished second on both boards with scores of 429.92 and 231.68, respectively. Both of Crawford's scores exceeded the NCAA Division III diving regional standard, while Santos hit the mark on the 1-meter board.
Springfield will return to the pool next Saturday, January 27 for a double dual meet against Wellesley College and Smith College at 12:00 pm inside Art Linkletter Natatorium.
