Springfield, Mass. – January 27, 2024 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team picked up two wins in a double dual meet with New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rivals Wellesley College and Smith College on Saturday afternoon in Art Linkletter Natatorium
Springfield, winners of six straight dual meets is now 7-5 on the season.
The Pride earned wins in both relay events to highlight this afternoon's double dual. Senior
Carolyn Blenk (New Rochelle, N.Y.), junior
Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), junior
Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) and junior
Kay Shen (Hong Kong) finished first in the 200-medley relay in 1:47.23, while junior
Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.), Kelaher, senior
Emma Baumhauer (Fairport, N.Y.) and Shen took first in the 400-free relay in 3:37.87.
Kelaher went on to individually finish first in the 50-free in 25.08, Shen won the 100-free in 53.37, Baumhauer won the 200-back in 2:11.15 and Lamb won the 200-IM in 2:13.88. Lamb also finished as the runner-up in the 200-breast in 2:26.13 and the 100-breast in 1:05.69, while Shen posted a second place finish in the 200-free in 2:00.18.
Blenk went on to finish third in the 100-back in 1:01.30 and third in the 200-back in 2:13.84, while Chamberlin took third in the 50-free in 25.47 and Kelaher finished third in the 100-fly in 1:01.03.
In the distance events, sophomore
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) placed second in the 1000-free in 11:10.71 and the 500-free in 5:29.05 and was followed in third by senior
Elizabeth Athanas (Manchester, Mass.) with times of 11:15.86 and 5:34.25, respectively. Athanas also tallied a third place finish in the 200-fly in 2:20.80.
In the diving well, senior
Megan Crawford (Agawam, Mass.) posted a runner-up finish on the 3-meter board with 251.60 points and a third place finish on the 1-meter board with 234.90 points.
Springfield will travel to Trinity College in Hartford for a dual meet with the Bantams next Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 pm.
