Springfield, Mass. – November 23, 2024 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving squad dropped a 176-120 decision to Coast Guard on Saturday in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.
It was a strong start to the meet for Springfield as
Maddie Symecko (Plantsville, Conn.), Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), Korryn Cartwright (Seekonk, Mass.), and Kay Shen (Hong Kong) took first in the 400 medley relay in 4:02.91
Shen won the 200 free by nearly three seconds with a 1:58.94 and placed first in the 50 free after touching in 24.43, while Lamb was impressive in securing first-place points in the 100 breast in 1:06.90 while also taking first in the 500 free with a 5:27.98.
Annabel Culbreth-Loomis (Pelham, Mass.) swept the diving competition as she scored a
272.47 to win the one-meter board and posted a 259.43 on the three-meter.
In the 200 fly,
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) turned in a 2:23.41 before notching a 2:18.41 in the 200 back. In the 200 IM,
Carolyn Blenk (Scarsdale, N.Y.) touched in 2:22.52 and
Kylie Nordenstrom (Blaine, Minn.) completed the 1,000 free in 11:33.88, while in the 100 back, Symecko posted a runner-up time of 1:03.19 and later notched a 1:06.96 in the 100 fly.
Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.) delivered a 55.11 to take second in the 100 free and
Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) recorded a 2:39.46 in the 200 breast. Concluding the meet with the 800 free relay, Shen, Chamberlin, Savoie, and Lamb took second place in 8:18.93.
Springfield will now prep for the Gompei Invitational, which takes place at WPI from December 6-8.
