Women's Swimming and Diving Edged By Wheaton

Norton, Mass. – November 9, 2024 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team was edged by New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Wheaton College by a final score of 152.5-144.5 on Saturday afternoon in Balfour Natatorium.

Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.) powered Springfield's efforts as she posted a trio of individual first place finishes in the 100-breast (1:06.20), the 200-breast (2:26.35) and the 200-IM (2:14.72). Lamb also teamed up with Carolyn Blenk (Scarsdale, N.Y.)Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) and Kay Shen (Hong Kong) for first in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:48.91. Lamb's season-best time in the 200-breast currently ranks second in the league.

In addition to her first-place efforts in the 200-medley relay and 400-free relay, Shen also won the 50-free in 24.39 and the 100-free in 52.99. Shen's 50-free and 100-free times are season bests and rank second and third, respectively, in the NEWMAC this year.

Maddie Symecko (Plantsville, Conn.) registered a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100-back (1:02.42) and the 200-back (2:16.67) and also placed fourth in the 100-fly (1:05.11) contributing ten points towards Springfield's score, while Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) posted a second place finish in the 1000-free in 11:37.50.

Erica Kerner (Cherry Hill, N.J.) tallied a second place finish in the 200-fly with a time of 2:24.47 to round out the individual swimming highlights in today's meet. The quartet of Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.)Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.)Korryn Cartwright (Seekonk, Mass.) and Shen capped the meet with a first place time of 3:40.50 in the 400-free relay.

In the diving well, Annabel Culbreth-Loomis (Pelham, Mass.) was the top Springfield finisher in both disciplines as she posted a mark of 242.50 for second on the 1-meter board and a score of 236.40 for second on the 3-meter board.

Springfield will return home for a double-dual meet next Saturday against No. 6 Williams College and Wesleyan University beginning at 12:00 pm.
