Hartford, Conn. – April 20, 2024 – The Springfield College women's track and field team finished fourth overall with 73 points at this year's Trinity College Invitational this afternoon.
On the track,
Kate Bonanno (Ellington, Conn.) and
Sam Stallard (Waldwick, N.J.) had the best finishes for the Pride as Bonanno placed fourth in the 5000-meter run in 18:53.21 and Stallard took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.91-seconds. Behind Bonanno in the 5000-meter run was
Meghan Sullivan (Easthampton, Mass.) in fifth in 20:02.11, while
Mirabell Brunell (Clifton Park, N.Y.) took fifth in the steeplechase in 12:02.69.
Julia Brillo (Ludlow, Mass.) and
Allie Ritchie (Orangeburg, N.Y.) both registered sixth place finishes in their respective events as Brillo clocked a 1:02.28 in the 400-meter dash, while Ritchie posted a 1:09.44 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Sophie Curcio (New Canaan, Conn.) and
Kaitlyn Doherty (Wilmington, Mass.) rounded out the individual highlights for the Pride on the track as Curcio took seventh in the 1500-meter run in 4:57.68 and Doherty clocked a 13.03 for seventh in the 100-meter dash. Doherty also teamed up with
Sofia Aguilar (Norwalk, Conn.),
Riley Hanover (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Madison Mulas (Wilmington, Mass.) for fourth in the 4x100-meter relay in 50.02-seconds.
Katelynn Taylor (Franklin, Mass.) was the highlight for Springfield in the field events as she placed second in the shot put (11.85m) and sixth in both the discus (34.90m) and the hammer throw (38.34m).
Bailey McDevitt (Wakefield, Mass.) placed fifth in the javelin (31.22m) and
Jillian Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) registered an eighth place finish in the triple jump (9.32m) to round of today's meet.
Springfield will return home to host the 2024 NEWMAC Championships on Friday and Saturday next week.
