Indianapolis, Ind. – April 9, 2024 – For the third-consecutive season, the Springfield College men's gymnastics team qualified for the upcoming NCAA National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships. The national meet will be held in The Covelli Center on the campus of The Ohio State University on April 19-20.
The qualification for the NCAA National Collegiate Championship comes after the Pride finished third at last weekend's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship. To date, Springfield College is the only Division III program to qualify for multiple NCAA National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships as a team. The Pride will compete in the evening session at The Ohio State University on Friday, April 19 at 7:00 pm against Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Air Force. This season, the Pride produced the 11th-highest national qualifying score in the country, a 392.900, which is the highest in program history.
Three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each pre-qualifying session to the finals session. Finals competition will take place April 20.
Last weekend, the Pride scored a 392.050 to finish third at the ECAC Championships. Following the meet, Sam Kaplan (Fairhaven, Mass.) was selected as the ECAC Men's Gymnast of the Year, Peyton Cramer (Grapevine, Texas) was chosen as the ECAC Rookie of the Year and the ECAC Specialist of the Year, Matt Davis was chosen as the ECAC Coach of the Year, and assistant coaches Norm Boulerice, Christian Wilkey Jr., and Dante Cecil were tabbed the ECAC Men's Gymnastics Co-Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year.
