Springfield, Mass. - May 6, 2024 - For just the second time in program history, the Springfield College women's lacrosse team earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and will host Stevens on Saturday, May 11 at 1 pm.  The winner of the Springfield/Stevens game will take on Babson on Sunday, May 12 at 1 pm.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Jenn Thomas, Springfield was one of three teams from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to earn a spot in this year's NCAA Championship Tournament. To date, the Pride own a 15-4 record and advanced to the NEWMAC Championship Semifinals and joins MIT and Babson in the field.

For the Pride, this is this the fourth time that the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament has been played on Alden Street, as the Pride last hosted a national-tournament game in 2006. This marks Springfield's 10th trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse championship, as the Pride previously competed on the national scene in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2022.

Springfield and Stevens have squared off twice before, most recently in 2023 when the Ducks prevailed in Hoboken by a score of 14-11.  The two teams previously played in 2012 in Florida, where Stevens clipped Springfield by an 11-9 margin.   Stevens was ranked 14th nationally in the most recent ILWomen/IWLCA Division III Poll and is 16-3 after winning the MAC Freedom Championship this weekend.
