Springfield, Mass. – June 5, 2024 – Four student-athletes from the Springfield College baseball program were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for their efforts on the field and in the classroom this year.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and compete in a specified number of team matches over the course of the calendar year.
For the third consecutive season, senior
Ryan Sorgi (Braintree, Mass.) earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team, while
Joseph Traversa (Pittsfield, Mass.),
Blake Roberge (Warwick, R.I.) and
Michael Barrett (Longmeadow, Mass.) were honored for the first time in their respective collegiate careers.
Sorgi produced a .273 batting average with 30 hits, nine doubles, one triple and a pair of home runs to go along with 15 RBI during his senior season on Alden Street, while Traversa batted .209 with two home runs and 16 RBI in 26 contests for the Pride. Barrett hit .221 with one home run, 23 hits and 15 RBI this year.
On the bump, Roberge went 2-2 in nine starts over 34.1 innings for Springfield this year. The senior earned victories over Central (Iowa) in Florida and Emerson back at home in April.
