Women's Swimming and Diving Downs Union and Hartwick in Double Dual

Schenectady, N.Y. – January 11, 2025 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team defeated Union College and Hartwick College in a double dual meet on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Springfield downed Union by a 182-114 final score and Hartwick, 166-130, as the Pride improved to 3-4 in dual meets this season. As a team, Springfield won ten different events and saw seven individual student-athletes win at least one event in the sweep.

Maddie Symecko (Plantsville, Conn.), Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.), Korryn Cartwright (Seekonk, Mass.) and Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.) began the double dual with a first place finish in the 200-medley relay in a time of 1:52.93.

Symecko went on to win both the 100-back (1:03.36) and the 200-back (2:18.13), Lamb went on to win the 100-breast (1:06.85) and the 200-breast (2:26.07) and Chamberlin placed first in the 50-free (25.36) and second in the 100-free (55.93).

Kay Shen (Hong Kong) also had a strong day in the pool with a pair of first place finishes in the 100-free (53.57) and the 100-fly (1:02.72) as well as a runner-up finish in the 200-free (2:01.98). Shen teamed up with Lamb, Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) and Chamberlin for the fastest time in the 200-free relay in 1:40.91, despite it being an exhibition swim.

Earlier in the meet, Norbut took third in the 500-free (5:41.81) and fifth in the 200-free (2:07.92). Gianna Farina (Easton, Pa.) and Ally Burnett (Rochester, N.Y.) rounded out the swimming highlights for the Pride in today's double dual as Farina took second in the 200-IM (2:20.34), while Burnett took second in the 500-free (5:38.77), second in the 1000-free (11:34.81) and fourth in the 100-back (1:06.04).

In the diving well, Annabel Culbreth-Loomis (Pelham, Mass.) earned an NCAA Diving Regional qualifying mark of 279.80 with her first place finish on the 3-meter board in addition to her runner-up finish on the 1-meter board (244.10). Elizabeth Santos (Chicopee, Mass.), meanwhile, won the 1-meter board (249.50) and took second on the 3-meter board (241.00).

Springfield will return to action next weekend with a double dual at Wesleyan University alongside Roger Williams beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday the 18th.
