Springfield College Student-Athletes Thrive Academically To Combine for 3.54 GPA

Springfield, Mass. - January 13, 2025 - Springfield College's student-athletes delivered one of the best academic efforts in the history of the institution to open the 2024-25 academic year.

The Pride's 679 total student-athletes earned a 3.540 grade point average this semester, which is the highest in-person grade point average (GPA) that has been achieved.  The only higher GPA took place in the spring semester of 2020 in a hybrid format due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when Springfield's student-athletes posted a 3.544.

This fall, 11 different Springfield College programs had a semester GPA above a 3.70 including men's tennis, men's cross country, men's gymnastics, women's cross country, women's volleyball, women's swimming and diving, field hockey, softball, women's basketball, women's gymnastics and women's tennis. Additionally, an incredible 87.2 percent of Springfield student-athletes — 592 of 679— produced a 3.0 GPA or better and total of 110 earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Another 330 delivered a spring GPA between 3.5 and 3.99, while 152 more had between 3.0 and 3.49.

The men's tennis team had the top GPA among men's programs with an impressive mark of 3.804, while on the women's side, the women's cross country team earned a 3.792 team grade point average to lead all women's programs on campus.
