Lange Promoted To Assistant Athletic Director For Athletic Communications

Springfield, Mass. - August 3, 2026 - Springfield College Director of Athletics Dr. Craig Poisson has announced the promotion of Emily Lange to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications.

"During the past academic year, Emily made a profound and immediate impact in her role as our Coordinator of Athletic Communications," said Poisson. "Her passion for the overall experience of Springfield College student-athletes is evident. I now look forward to Emily's contributions as our Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and as a member of the Athletic Leadership Team."

Lange steps into a position that was previously held by Max Berkowitz who recently stepped down and was named the Assistant Director for Strategic Communications at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). During his tenure, Berkowitz was a critical piece to the development of the department as he launched a partnership with SIDEARM Sports, worked closely with FloCollege and served as a director for numerous NEWMAC and NCAA events while being committed to the development of the student-athletes on Alden Street.

"I want to thank Dr. Poisson for the opportunity to step into this role," said Lange. "I am thrilled to continue to share the stories and celebrate the success of the department while supporting our student-athletes and coaches here at Springfield."

Lange will be responsible for the communications efforts for the 27 NCAA Division III varsity athletics programs at Springfield and will also be more involved in the Athletic Hall of Fame, Alumni Golf Tournament and the End of the Year Athletics Banquet. Additionally, she will be responsible for oversight of interns and student workers in the athletic communications office, website maintenance, designing and creating athletics enrollment management materials, developing social media content, overseeing game-day functions, using video production and graphic design to promote the College, and enhancing alumni and donor communication in coordination with the Friends of Springfield College Athletics fundraising arm.

In her first year at Springfield, Lange was a vital addition to the athletic communications office and the Department of Athletics. She played a large role in the planning and execution of the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship, assisting in a plethora of areas. She has continued to strengthen Springfield and the NEWMAC's relationship with FloSports earning NEWMAC FloCollege Awards which recognize excellence in streaming initiatives along with helping grow the reach of Springfield Athletics through social media.

Lange was a four-year member of the Southern Connecticut softball team and a captain her senior year. She received the NE10 Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence and was a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection. Lange was a two-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served on the e-board her senior year while also being a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society.
