Ths Annapolis, Md. – January 18, 2025 – The Springfield College men's gymnastics team finished second among three NCAA teams at the 2025 Navy Open on Saturday afternoon.
William and Mary came in first among the three NCAA teams with a score of 306.150, Springfield took second with 305.300 and Navy took third with 303.150. This marked Springfield's first win over Navy since March 15, 2014.
Springfield's best event came on the vault as the four student-athletes combined for a mark of 54.750 points.
Owen Carney (Sterling, Mass.) paced the Pride with a 13.900, followed by
Evan Reichert (Oswego, Ill.) and
Kaleb Palacio (Barcliff, Texas) with a 13.800 and
Will Wilson (Montgomery, Ala.) with a 13.250.
Carney also led Springfield on the floor with a score of 13.550 and the high bar with a score of 13.350. Palacio followed on the vault with a 13.350,
Kojiro Motoki (Paramus, N.J.) registered a 12.950 and Wilson produced a 12.100, while on the high bar Palacio tallied a 12.900, Motoki posted a 12.400 and
Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany) notched a 12.200.
Devon Felsenstein (Blue Bell, Pa.) guided Springfield on the pommel horse with a mark of 12.950 and was followed by
Gio Mantia (Aurora, Ill.) with a 12.650, Kriedemann with a 12.450 and Reichert with an 11.450.
On the rings, Wilson led Springfield with a 13.050 as the Pride tallied a combined mark of 49.800.
Gustavin Suess (Portland, Ore.) posted a 13.000,
Matt Browne (Decatur, Ga.) notched a 12.100 and
Blaise Rousseau (Brecksville, Ohio) registered an 11.650.
Springfield rounded out the night on the parallel bar and was led by Motoki with a 13.050. Palacio notched a 12.350, Rousseau tallied a 12.050 and
Carter Cochardo (Cicero, N.Y.) posted an 11.000.
Springfield will host the University of Michigan and Army next Saturday in a tri-meet inside Blake Arena at 2:00 pm.
